“Sisterhood is powerful.”

Today is Siblings Day. But this year, things are a little bit different.

Some siblings may be stuck in quarantine together and can’t wait to get away from each other. Some may only live a few minutes away but can’t hang out together. Some may be half a world away. And some no longer talk to each other.

Our relationships with our brothers and sisters are so unique … and can quickly go from one extreme to the next, sometimes without even talking!

For me, my big sister, Heather, is a massive inspiration!

She’s always dreaming and coming up with ideas and goals that most people would think are crazy and impossible. It never ceases to amaze me the way she always makes it work!

Whether it’s buying property, moving half way around the world a few times or her latest achievement, #vanlife for a year, where she travelled around Australia, took in some of the most amazing sights and got to hang with a few of the furry locals!

But Heather isn’t someone who just “always gets what she wants”.

She works extremely hard behind the scenes to ensure her dreams become a reality. She researches, studies and fully explores every single option available. She doesn’t let the limitations of others hold her back as she knows what she’s really capable of!

I’m so grateful to have her in my corner, believing in me and cheering me on when I can’t be my own cheerleader. She pushes be to be a better person – to laugh, to grow my skills and knowledge and to help give me the confidence to go after what I want.

Your biggest supporter or inspiration may not be a sibling. You may not even know them in person – sometimes our biggest cheerleaders are on social media.

The key take away from this? Take time to pause, reflect and appreciate the wonderful people in our lives who help make us who we are and build us up when we take a break from building ourselves up. So, long story short… I smile because you’re my sister. I laugh because you can’t do anything about it.
